Summer is fast approaching and you realize that you have not done that long awaited Spring cleaning. What do you do now? You still have long-sleeved shirts and sweaters in your closet and drawers. The space could be used for warm-weather clothing, but you just don't have the time. You know you need to put them away for use in the winter, but can't manage to make the time.
You have:
- old magazines lying around
- bags (you should only have 3 visible bags, all others need to go in hiding)
- hats (do something creative like putting a nail in the wall and making a collage of hanging hats)
- shoes (get a shoe rack that can be hung off of the door that no one ever opens)
- clothes (sweaters, long-sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, sweatpants, etc.)
- junk mail (shred them, there is too much identity theft going on)
- photos, etc. (if they are older than a year and not in an album, you really need to do something)

And if you live with someone or are a parent, you have toys, the children's clothes, your spouse's/roommate's/partner's clothes to also get rid of.
You ask friends what they do, but they too have put off Spring cleaning. I usually watch HGTV for the latest tips on organizing, but if that's not an option I check the world wide web.

First you must decide what your goals are.
What things do you need?
What things are you holding on to just because they may come in handy in the future?
What things can you let go of?
What can be donated?
Try to get containers that can hold books, clothes, shoes, etc. The containers should be easy to store as well as save space. Something that can fit easily in the closet.
Then SORT, SORT, SORT.
